Earthquakes Near White Island

A shallow magnitude 4.0 earthquake, which struck 10 km east of White Island at 9 o’clock this morning was felt 40 km away at Te Kaha. It was followed by a magnitude 3.6 event nearby 11 minutes later. Both quakes were less than 10 km deep.

    Well, White island hasn’t seen that kind of activity for a while…

    Also, I have noticed that since Mid-November there seems to be a concerntration of earthquakes in the BOP area. I would say 90% have occurred in that area…just an observation.
