Moderate Quake, Kermadecs

A shallow, moderately strong earthquake struck the central part of the Kermadec Islands early this morning.

Wednesday 15th April 2009

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck 120 km south of Raoul Island (150 km north-east of L’Esperance Rock) just before 1 o’clock this morning. The 12:49 a.m. quake was 5 km deep according to preliminary analysis.
