Eruptions at White Island Volcano

An abrupt change at White Island in the Bay of Plenty at the end of July has continued, with the volcano now producing ash for the first time in more than a decade.

Changes at White Island

Volcanic Unrest at Mt. Tongariro

Low-level activity which began at Mt. Tongariro on July 13th has continued, and GNS Science has increased its monitoring of the volcano. Seismic activity and volcanic gas emissions confirm a low level of unrest.
