Kermadec Quake

A moderately strong undersea earthquake struck the southern Kermadec Islands early this afternoon.

Monday 7th March 2011

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck 54 km north-north-east of L’Esperance Rock in the southern part of the Kermadec Islands at 12:45 p.m. New Zealand Daylight Time today. The quake was centred 204 km south-south-west of Raoul Island (890 km west of Auckland) at a depth of 100 km.
