Earthquake activity near Fiji and Tonga has been occurring at a steady rate over the past week.
There have been five earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.0 and 4.8 in the Fiji region over the past week. The quakes occurred at depths between 45 and 640 km according to data supplied by the US Geological Survey.
Three quakes with magnitudes between 4.9 and 5.2 struck near Tonga at depths ranging between 30 and 150 km.
Two events in the Kermadec Islands have also been reported.
