East Cape Earthquakes Continue

Earthquake activity east of Ruatoria and Tikitiki, north of Gisborne, has continued with another two earthquakes in quick succession this morning.

Geonet describes the earthquakes, which occurred 33 seconds apart at 11:13 a.m. as having similar magnitudes. Only the second event has been entered into the databases at the time of writing, it was magnitude 4.1, 12 km deep and located 30 km east of both Ruatoria and Tikitiki.

One report of the earthquake has been received from Rotorua, where it was felt lightly.
