Another earthquake struck near Gisborne this morning, ruining the sleep-in plans of at least one loafer.
The magnitude 4.2 quake struck at 8:42 a.m. on Thursday 6th December 2007. It was located 20 km north of Gisborne, 20 km east of Te Karaka at a depth of 60 km. The quake was felt at Gisborne, Mangapapa and Manutuke.
On November 16th, a shallower magnitude 3.4 quake struck in a similar location. It was located 20 km north-west of Gisborne, 10 km south of Te Karaka at a depth of 12 km. This quake was felt at Kaiti and Patutahi.
