Another shallow earthquake struck under Cook Strait just before 1 o’clock today.
The off-shore magnitude 3.7 quake, which struck at 12:41 p.m. on Sunday the 23rd of November 2008, was located 10 km north of Porirua at a depth of 30 km.
Members of the public quickly filed 90 reports of the event indicating that it was felt from Te Horo to Wellington and in the Marlborough Sounds. One report of strong shaking has been received from Paekakariki.
Another quake in Cook Strait yesterday was shallower. The magnitude 3.1 quake which struck at 1:06 p.m. on Friday was located 20 km north-west of Wellington at a depth of 20 km.
A magnitude 3.7 quake which struck early on the morning of Monday November 3rd was located 30 km north-west of Porirua at a depth of 40 km.
