Moderate Quake, Kermadec Ridge

A deep earthquake of fifth magnitude struck beneath the Kermadec Ridge early this morning.

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck to the north of East Cape, beneath the Kermadec Ridge, at seven minutes before one o’clock this morning. The quake, which was 175 km deep, was located 375 km north-north-east of Gisborne, 385 km north-east of Rotorua.
