The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre cancelled the tsunami warning for New Zealand at 1:18 p.m. today.

The tsunami warning and watch triggered by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake in the Vanuatu islands was cancelled at 1:18 this afternoon.
The cancellation was made after readings were received from three nearby wave gauges in the South Pacific. The Vanuatu gauge reported a 5 cm change at 12:20 p.m. NZDT, the Dart Coral gauge a 3 cm change at 12:26 and the Luganville gauge a 10 cm wave at 12:27.
