An undersea earthquake struck mid-way between East Cape and the southern Kermadec Islands early this morning. The magnitude 4.6 quake, which struck at 1:12 a.m. on Monday 10th May 2010 was located 395 km south-south-west of L’Esperance Rock (460 km north-north-east of Gisborne) at a depth of 35 km.
