Strong earthquakes struck near Vanuatu and Fiji yesterday.

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck 140 km south-south-east of Isangel, Tanna, Vanuatu late last night. The quake, which struck at 11:38 p.m. New Zealand time, was centred 220 km east-north-east of Tadine in the Loyalty Islands at a depth of 54 km.
Earlier in the day a shallow magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck 155 km east-north-east of Lambasa, Vanua Levu, Fiji at 4:14 a.m. New Zealand time. The quake was 10 km deep.
At 8:52 on Saturday night a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck 150 km south of Hihifo, Tonga at a depth of 37 km.
