The webcam at Raoul Island is back online.

A lightning strike on the 4th of April damaged the radio repeater and webcamera on Raoul Island in the Kermadecs. The damaged radio repeater on Mount Moumoukai, which relays information from various instruments on the island, was repaired during a scheduled visit later in the month to carry out maintenance on the tsunami gauges and the system that transmits data from the island via satellite.
However, the damaged webcam could not be replaced at the time and repair work was scheduled for the next planned maintenance trip in October. The camera came back online this week and now provides a view of the Raoul crater, including Blue Lake and Green Lake.
The webcam and seismic drum on Raoul Island can be accessed from the Kermadecs page on the GeoNet website. The page also shows a map of earthquakes in the area during the past two months.
